Meet one of my 2020 couples, Kerri and Joe! I had a great time during their Bear’s Den Overlook engagement session, getting to know them a bit better! These high school sweethearts have the sweetest story! Before Joe graduated, he decided to take a chance and ask Kerri out for dinner and a movie. Despite being “incredible awkward high schoolers” (as they put it!), they managed to survive their first date. After a few more, it became obvious they had a connection. Their relationship became official in May of 2014, and now, they’re getting ready to celebrate six years together! The two are celebrating by planning their Briar Patch Bed & Breakfast wedding day.
I don’t know about you, but hearing my couples’ engagement stories might be one of my favorite parts of being a wedding photographer!! Joe and Kerri had booked a trip to Hawaii with his family. Since the two love to hike, the plan was to hike up one of the mountains on Hawaii’s big island and propose at sunset. As life usually goes, the plan fell apart when they weren’t able to reach the top by sunset. Instead, Joe waited until the next morning when he could ask Kerri with a gorgeous ocean view of the sunrise on the beach. Shocked, Kerri said yes and with tears in her eyes, the two celebrated their engagement!
Bear’s Den Overlook Engagement Session
When I found out that Kerri and Joe loved to hike, we decided that going up to Bear’s Den Overlook for their engagement session would be a great idea! Being the adventurous couple they are, Kerri and Joe were ready to go – and went along with all of the romantic poses and moments I suggested throughout our session. We had the most gorgeous views and I had a wonderful time photographing their love story in the mountains. Kerri and Joe, I cannot wait to see you again for your spring wedding day! I know it’s going to be absolutely beautiful.
